What the HECK is a "Man Bag"!!!!?????

There is nothing I can say to convince "Lyrics" to wear a "MAN BAG" He says that if looks like a purse and a woman is wearin something similar "It's un- manly" So I am going to break it down to the fellas out there who feel that a "Man Bag" is the most un-manly thing out.

1. Why a "Man Bag"? A "Man bag" can look like a gym bag to a laptop bag where you can fit many other things. It also resembles a duffle bag. I personally believe that men out there feel weird about this trend because of it's name. It can sound a bit "un-manly" but you don't have to carry it like a purse or even consider it a man bag.

2. What "Macho" Man is using one? Surprisingly, many hip hop, pop, rock artists and etc are using them. Again, I personally don't see them as "man purses" but as duffles. The other day, I bumped into a "Rich Yung" Man bag aka Duffle and it was FIRERY!!!! There are also the Gucci's and the Louis Vuitton if ya wanna stunt. But they can be found in H&M, forever 21, Urban Outfitters and etc!

Men, stop thinking that "Man bags" are queer or metrosexual. Its just a duffle bag with the name of "Man bag" lol. Its just a replacement of that old ass bookbag that some of ya'll been carrying around since 3rd grade.  You can put all your manly stuff in there! Step out of your comfort! Now, Let me see if I can get Lyrics to rock one for me :) Wish me luck!

5 minutes with the Prince of the BX- Devo D.

My ears are precious- which makes me very cautious of what I listen to. BUT when it comes to Devo D., my ears become glued to the speakers that is bumpin' his songs. I had the chance to sit down and chat with the sensational Devo D after the release of his new single with T-Pain ft. Devo D. himself.  Devo D. entered the T-pain contest and I am positive that he has the win. Let's wish him luck and read  what he had to say!

Click The Picture To Listen To The Song!

1. where are you from?

A: The Castle Hill section of The Bronx, NY.

2. when did you first start singing and where did your name originate from?

A: I've been singing for as long as I can remember. And writing poetry and rapping as far back as the 3rd grade. I came up singing in church, and in schools plays and talent shows. When I was younger I was a HUGE wrestling fan. That was what I wanted to be before I took music seriously. So I named my wrestling alter ego "Devo Diamond". I dropped the "N" from my birth name (Devon). And added "Diamond". I thought a diamond is priceless. It takes years to make, and can only be made under extreme pressure. (Like growing up in the roughest projects in The Bronx with only one parent). Diamonds are something everyone wants, but not everyone can obtain. Plus there a girl's best friend. ;) lol. So that's the name I used for music for those 1st few yrs. As I got older it didn't seem to fit me anymore. So I swagged it out and shortened it to "DeVo D.". The "D" standing for determined, dominating, dope. Anything positive that could be used to define me.

3. What type of genre or style do you consider your music?

I feel like music is to big and broad to continue to be generalized. I'm a vocalist. Anything involving vocals, I can do. And if I can't I wanna learn how. My music takes influences from several different things. R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and even Gospel.

4. Who is your target audience?

Anyone with ears. Lol. Anyone who listens to an appreciates music. Especially the lady listeners. Lol.

5. What and who inspires you? Who would you like to work with and why.

Music itself inspires me. Creating something new. Something dope. Seeing the situations I've gone through, or the stories I tell in my mind come to fruition. Along with that, the thought of a better life. I like at the top artist that DO this n that inspires me to go harder to get to that level. As a writer, as a performer. As an artist in general.

6. What are your accomplishments thus far as an artist?

A: I've been blessed to have the opportunity to work with some amazing artists. I've been on records with people like Memphis Bleek, Dynasty, B.X.L., Da Youngfellaz and several others. And I look to work with many more. I've received vocal and stage training from celebrity vocal coach Craig Derry. I've practiced dance at the renowned Broadway Dance Academy.  I was nominated for a couple awards a few years back. In February of 2010 I released my first mixtape "R&BX: Rhythm & The Bronx". But all those things fail in comparison to the things I'm GONNA do. Lord willing..

5 minutes with New Blak!!!

As we all know, fashion is ALWAYS changing. And with speaking about change, I think about the eclectic and dope line "New Blak" I had the chance to chat with the CEO, Founder and designer- Edward Robinson.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
     I am from Newburgh, NY

WHEN DID YOUR LINE ORIGINATE?
New Blak originated at about or around 2002. Although it started out being called B.Y.N.O. (Being Young is Never Old), I got the name New Blak when I was working one day and was reading a magazine and I realized that at the time Celebrities had gone really far to make everything the “New Black”. A co-worker and myself were discussing the trend of things and he simply said why don’t you change the name of your company to New Black. And sure enough I did but that name was taken already so I just dropped the C in Blak and never looked back.

WHAT WAS AND IS YOUR INSPIRATION?

My Inspiration for New Blak  started out with being a Trendy, High end Tee Shirt boutique, but then I realized I’m not just about Tee Shirts I am Fashion. I want not just a line but an entire Empire that generates and exudes Opulence, luxury but very affordable. New Blak’s Inspiration now is Different Styles merging together and creating New Trends.

 WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE?
My target audience is really Everyone. I don’t think that you’re a real Designer if you can’t design for people of all shapes and sizes. ( For pictures of the line, please view the "Music and Style" post where a video is posted with New Blak)

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AND YOUR LINE 5 YEARS FROM NOW?
I see myself running a multi-million dollar company and changing the face of the fashion industry, and as far as New Blak , in 5 years being a huge company not just a line and SUCCESS, changing fashion yet again and showing people that if  you have a dream and Passion to fuel your dream then you can do it too.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS FAR AS A DESIGNER?
New Blak has gotten tons of press and Media exposure locally i.e. Times Herald Record, HV Magazine, Echo magazine Online, Orange magazine, Lyrics and lipstick Blogspot.com. New Blak still continues to get press and media exposure through major red carpet events and exclusive invite only parties, Some Celebrities and Celebrity Stylists as well as Publicists.

If you are interested in purchasing these one of a kind accessories and clothing, please visit www.newblak.com. Please support the up and coming...If you don't, then who will...and that means more dope accessories for me!! lmao

LIPSTICK OF THE MONTH- NICKI MINAJ'S PINK FRIDAY LIPSTICK

Nicki Minaj's pink Friday has been a sensation amongst all the Barbz around the world. This special addition lipstick is only available for 4 Fridays since her album dropped. So I am assuming the next Friday is the only day available.  I had the chance to try the lipstick and I can sincerely say that its an "ok" lipstick. I have a similar color in which I also bought from M.A.C.  "Pink Friday" is a beautiful barbie pale pink which works well with many complexions. I like the color on me but you have to make sure that your lips are well hydrated. You can apply chapstick or primer before putting on the lipstick so that it can glide on easily. Below are some pictures of the lipstick.
NOTE: THE COLOR LOOKS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ON MY PIC BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTING- THEREFORE, I WILL TAKE ONE AGAIN AND POST IT LATER!!!

Nicki Minaj pulls in directly behind 'Ye debuting at number two on the US Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 375,000 copies: this marked the second-highest sales week for a female hip hop recording artist, behind Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998. She reached all her expectations and has a bright future ahead of her.

Lloyd Banks finally released his anticipated 3rd album Hunger For More 2. Lloyd Banks'
album debuted at number 26 on the Billboard 200, with over 45,000 units sold. The album was sold out at many different shops due to the lack of albums shipped by the record label EMI. Help!! I'm on a budget and I need to get new clothes for tis season!!!

This is seriously the story of my life especially as a college student. I have no other option to choose books over clothes but as the semester is winding down, Christmas is on its way- ughh, no money left for me to really shop for myself. So I end up shopping with a budget- which can sound like no fun, but if you are very creative and plan, it will be very successful!

When we are shopping, we tend to not pay attention to the clothes that we already have! We just lose our minds and buy clothing that can look similar to what we already own! Do not commit this mistake! You are just spending money on pieces that you can use for other items.

-Blazers are a staple item. They can be used for any outfit, especially if you want to jazz up your plain tee and jeans. Pop on a blazer, some accessories and some cute shoes and you are ready to go.
- Scarves! I had posted a blog about scarves because I truly believe that scarves are great in making your outfit pop.
- Footwear. Footwear can make or break your outfit. Be daring and invest in a pair of boots. They are definitely in this season! You can find very cute and cheap pairs in "Necessary Clothing", "Rainbow" "DSW" or even on websites.
Remember, you do not have to buy alot of clothing to get a new look! Use the basics you have already and buy items that can be matched with those pieces :)

Modern Everyday jacket $27.80 www.forever21.com

My ultimate fav!! Forever 21 plus size $27.80 www.forever21.com

Yes, its true...boots all under $40
Do not be afraid to be creative. Add pins, change the buttons on your old cardigans, add patches to your old jackets...have fun with your clothes...if you make it look good, you will feel good in it!
