Must Have Shoes of the Week!!!!

As memorial weekend approaches, my thoughts range from finally having my mom's famous Criollo T- Bone steak to what the heck am I going to wear on my feet! Don't get me wrong, I don't dress up for BBQ's but I do want to look caaaauuuuteeee! So, as I started researching ( aka " Internet Window Shopping) I bumped into a couple of cute shoes. Depending on the ground and occasion, heels can be somewhat appropriate but you don't want to look over dressed so I prefer to go with some flats or wedges. Depending on how comfortable you want to be, you can decide which style works best. So below, I have posted some AFFORDABLE shoes that can look great on any complexion and body type. As for myself, I prefer the wedge because it makes me look longer meaning that I can eat more and I love how the air feels up there. lol.

Add some " Colorblocking" to your outfit with this beautiful wedge which is also available in Marine/Blue. " Milesbtwn" not only adds height and shapes your legs, but also is comfortable enough to enjoy your BBQ. This shoe is perfect if you are in a grassy area because of the solid colors. As far as the outfit, you don't have to worry too much because the shoe itself brightens up the look.

$ 109.00 ( Sale online- Buy one and get 2nd 50% off)

There is a great sale going on! If you buy anything from the sale category, it gets an additional 25% off!

I know that some of my ladies want to be super comfy but trendy at the same time! Don't worry! I got you!! Play up some shorts with this very trendy oxford shoe. The grey is very chic but the colors give a sudden pop and adds playfulness to your look! I love this shoe and for the price, its definitely a steal.

Brookings -$ 26.24 PLUS 25% off PLUS Free Shipping

As I continued looking through the website, I found very cute flat sandals.  The awesome thing about these sandals is that the detail plays as an accent and accessory to your outfit. You can simply add some color by applying a bright nail polish on your toesies. I wasn't a big fan of the tassels because I thought they made the sandal look cheap BUT after trying them on, they look cute.  They work well with mid length trousers. They are also available in two other colors- Congac and Fushia.

Kukura- $35.00

Now, for the dramatic ladies like moi, I LOVE LOVE to add some drama to a simple outfit. You can simply wear a print and it literally changes your outfit. But a wedge and print?! Now that's drama!  This printed wedge looks great with shorts or a romper and it makes your legs look gorg! ( You know I'm all about the legs) You can play around by putting a bright nail polish! This style is available in black and nude as well.

Kardd- $129.00

Have fun this weekend. Look fabulous and share this post with other fashionistas!

I am Beautiful. I am ME

As you have all noticed,  I have not been able to sit down and chat with you all in a very long time. Yesterday was my last day in college and this morning I woke up, not only feeling successful but truly humbled. As I sit here, I start to reminisce on all the beautiful moments that I was able to experience throughout my four years in college. It is a pleasure to inform you that my senior project " I am Beautiful. I am ME!" was a complete success. To re-freshen your memories," I am Beautiful. I am ME!" was executed on April 28, 2012. It's mission was to encourage self- respect, self- empowerment, the acceptance of uniqueness and the celebration of being a young female through fun filled workshops. We had over 15 sponsors and the entire event was free of cost. The participants had a ball. The atmosphere was filled with smiles and laughter. It felt so wonderful to know that there are people in the world who still cherish the simple things in life. Please scroll below and check out the pics and video. Enjoy!

Keep your colour...even in nasty weather!!!

So in September, I decided to abandon my black hair and step into the red/burgundy world.  Because my hair was soooo dark, it took so much work to finally get to the shade that I wanted. I am absolutely in love with my hair. Not only do I get stopped in the streets and asked how I got to that shade but its so daring and makes me feel "sexy"

Many people who colour their hair find trouble maintaining the colour- especially reds. I was asked to speak about how I treat my hair and how the colour stay so vibrant. I only retouch my roots once a month- therefore, I work hard to maintain the colour! :)

1. Moisturize! Because of the harsh dry winds, your hair is automatically attacked and it can become very brittle. Therefore, I use Argan oil everyday. I usually inspect my ends and moisturize them. You don't have to put the entire bottle! Just take a pea size amount of the oil and distribute it through your hair.

2. Avoid washing your hair everyday! Even though you may use permanent dye, it still can come out. Every time I wash my hair, I see the water turning red. So avoid washing your hair so much! It takes out the natural nutrients- leaving your hair dry and no shine.

3. Trim ends! (that says it all!)

4. Use protective products! Because I am obsessed with my wand, I curl my hair alot- every other day! But I load alot of protective products so that the heat can burn the product and not my hair.

5. Avoid tying up your hair- When you are going to bed, instead of tying your hair up, wrap it! Hair ties can break your hair! Trust me, I learned that the hard way!

Below are the products that I use! You can find them in your local beauty supply store, drug store, Target and etc!

MAXI DRESSES to WIDE LEG ROMPERS

Maxi dresses

My ultimate favorite pieces- Maxi dresses and wide leg rompers. UGHHHH!!! Not only is it a full outfit, meaning that you put it on and you are ready to go but they are also comfortable because they do not stick on you when its warm outside. I personally love maxi dresses and wide leg rompers because they work well with most body shapes. They cover the right areas and eventuate your lovely curves. The nude colors are easy to pair with a jean jacket, bright blazer or even a light wight brimmed hat. Check the lovely pictures below :) I have also included a picture of me with a wide leg romper that I bought in Italy.

Lyrics a Lipstick takes a trip to Milan, Italy- Style Report

Amo l' Italia!!!!
Italy was completely amazing! I was able to travel to the gran lands of Milan and Genova (Genoa) . Italy is definitely the center of fashion. Everyone had its own style. The stores were breath taking and every female that I saw walking on the streets looked so fierce and chic. As I continued making my way around town, I noticed the constant use of neon colors, thick heels , funky eyeglasses, nude blazers and shoes- for women. As far as men, the neutral colors and layering was very popular in every store window I walked past. Below, I have posted some pictures! ENJOY!!!

Beautiful Bold Braids...a Beautiful hairstyle for a diva!

Okay ladies, I am going to keep it real! Lately, I´ve been soooo lazy with my hair. I have lost patience when it comes to my hair and styling it. Sometimes, I just wash and flat iron my hair and when it starts getting frizzy, I just create a braid and keep it moving. Luckly, I´ve been in style while being lazy without knowing it! lol. Thanks to "Who What Wear daily", I was able to see how stars are doing it! To help you find your fav look, I have posted some youtube videos below to help you create this easy yet pretty look! I love the messy braid look. It is easy yet so cute! Music dreams all over the world

BARCELONA
As I make my way to school early in the morning, I am up lifted by the beautiful notes that echo throughout the train station. As I make my way to the exit, I am face to face to Edwardo, who is in his mid 40's and is an immigrant from Colombia. As people rush to work, he is sitting on a broken stool, playing his guitar and sing sweet words into the microphone. This makes me late everyday to my psychology class. As I travel around Europe, I am mesmerized on how there are street musicians on every corner. Different genres. Different emotions. Different people. But they are all here for one thing- A dream.
MADRID
When I went to Madrid, I bumped into a "Marachi band" They were from Mexico and had moved to Madrid about 8 months ago. They moved to Madrid in search of job opportunities. But unfortunately, they haven't found a job yet, so they had to turn to what they love- music. They filled the beautiful Saturday after noon with music from their home. With emotions pouring out of their beautiful voices which created harmonies, I was able to feel the passion, anxiety and hardships that they face everyday.
IRELAND
When I made my way to Ireland, I was impacted by the beautiful colored doors- which is a main attraction in Ireland. I finally made my way to "temple bar" and it was a different world. It was a world full of bars and live music- Live music meaning street musicians. As I walked up and down the streets, I was automatically stopped by beautiful sounds. I stood and listened. I made my way closer to them and observed their playing. When they finally took a break, we sparked a conversation. We spoke about the blues, jazz and of course the typical Irish music. The two performers were from Switzerland and came to Ireland. They were in search of making their dream become reality. They were traveling around Europe to build recognition. Moments later, I found my self singing the sweet blues of Billie Holiday. We were all from different parts in the world but we had music in common

As I continue traveling, I have made a promise to approach street performers and actually sing with them while I am here. Every time, I do so, I feel their emotions. Its the most beautiful feeling because you put yourself in their shoes. I will never forget the time when I was on my way home. It was raining so much and my umbrella was breaking apart, so I decided to run home. As I am running, I start hearing a symphony of a violin, rain drops and thunder. As I followed the sounds, there is a young guy by the name of Sammuel, playing the violin in the rain. He was drenched , had his eyes closed and just played his violin. I was impacted because what I was experiencing was pure passion. It wasn't about collecting money. It was about joining nature and his sounds. When he finally finished, we spoke. He was inspired by nature and the rain was one of the purest instruments . He also told me that he goes out to play every time it rains. He also explained to me that music is everywhere. We spend our lives running from one place to another and we forget to listen to the music around us.

Street musicians and independent artists are greatly supported in Europe. I realized that it is very easy for hard working independent artists to get a segment on the radio. Back home in the States, its so hard because its all about who you know and etc. However, after speaking with the Director of the Marketing Department in Catalunya Radio, I realized that many radio stations reach out to these hard working, talented individuals. I am impressed because music is engraved in the culture and they feel the need to spread the talent around.Street musicians have a dream, purpose and hope. They do not just play instruments, sing or rap just because! There is a story behind each person. So next time you bump into a street musician. Take a second and listen. Allow yourself to receive the emotions they are transmitting. If a painting is what emotions look like, then music is what emotions sound like.
